Helping Hands Newsletter 2017 #1

“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”  Mother Teresa

We have been so blessed with friends, supporters and donors, both individual and corporate, who have shown so much love in the way they open their hearts to make a better life for the children in our care.

We wish to start the year with much thanksgiving, knowing that this work would continue for as long as there are people who share our mission and vision, coupled with the grace and love of our heavenly Father, who provides for all our needs in amazing ways.

Helping Hands An Add Hope 2017 Beneficiary

It was a great start to 2017 as Helping Hands received news that it was a beneficiary in KFC’s Add Hope Program for the year.  This is the second year in a row that Helping Hands has been blessed to be part of the Add Hope Program.

Add Hope, KFC’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative which started in 2009, brings KFC and their customers together to make a difference. Since its inception eight years ago, it has partnered with 137 beneficiaries across South Africa.

Over 12 million South Africans don’t have access to proper nutrition and go to bed hungry every night, of these, 3.2 million are children. Add Hope is KFC’s commitment to help feed children in South Africa, because they believe a hungry nation can never be a growing one. It feeds over 120000 children across the country every single day (that’s more people than Soccer City can seat!), so that they can learn, grow and thrive.

KFC gives back too – last year as a company KFC donated R25 million to Add Hope; their customers donated R39 million last year and to date, Add Hope has raised R387 million.

As a beneficiary, Helping Hands received a generous amount of R90,000 to be used to feed children under its care.
