Helping Hands is an outreach initiative caring for orphaned and vulnerable children and  which operates in Monzi in the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.

The Helping Hands Trust, which was registered in 2010, was birthed out of a cry for help from the principal of the primary school in the area back in 1999, and the responsive and willing hearts of Mark and Vicci Lonsdale, a local farming couple and members of River Church, Mtubatuba.

The school is located in a community which is severely afflicted by AIDS, unemployment and poverty. Many of the households are run by single parents, or even children.    The number of orphaned children is ever increasing.

“We are extremely blessed and desire to give something back to make a difference in others’ lives. What a privilege to be able to bless those less fortunate than us. We are aware that one day, before we know it, we will be lying prostrate before our Father, the Maker of heaven and earth. What if He says to us: What did you do with the resources I blessed you with? What did you do for my sheep who you came into contact with ? Did they see Me in you? We are sure we will feel whatever we say will be inadequate.  However, we have resolved to do our best for the God we love, and fortunately His grace abounds.”

“Religion that God our father accepts as pure and faultless is this:to look after orphans and widows in their distress.”
